Do It Yourself: Mecate Reins

So with wanting to start re-introducing the bit and my goal of getting Cash out on some trail rides I got the notion in my head that I'd like to have a set of Mecate reins.  Another horse at my barn has them and I love the idea and functionality of them.  But, I don't like nylon... at all.  Not a fan of the horse hair ones either, too scratchy.  I love cotton.  Problem is they don't sell Mecate reins in cotton.  I'm sure there must be a reason, but nonetheless I wanted cotton.  So I decided to get thrifty.  I Googled "Cotton rope by the foot" and the first hit was a lovely website called KnotandRope.com....

Mud, Showoff, Forward, Rolex, Shopping!

How's that for a title? So now that all the snow has finally melted and it's not a muddy mess everywhere, I can actually work with my horse! Fancy that. Though... I did have to deal with this first: Lovely, ain't it? Yesterday I lunged and rode, we were sharing the arena initially with another rider who was on this super sweet little QH mare named Ladybug.  Well, everytime Cash would pass Lady while on the lunge he would puff himself up, arch his neck, and start prancing about.  He was being such a goof!! 2013 Wish List

Since I already sorta did a Goals post with what I want to achieve in 2013 (although I should expand on them...), I thought it would be fun to do a 2013 Wish List and share with you some of the items I have my eye on that I want to buy within the next year. AiroWear Ladies Outlyne Body Protector I used to have a Tipperary Vest, you know, that one with the little foam pieces all placed in the fabric to make it super flexible and lego block type looking (what! it's what it looks like to me).  However, those iconic vests are most definitely not BETA approved. Umm, that's kinda a big deal. We won't ride in helmets that aren't properly approved,...
